Our future exterior exhibit at St. Luke & Odd Fell Our future exterior exhibit at St. Luke & Odd Fellows Hall will include flora native to historic New Town, a monument honoring all of those who lived in the neighborhood, a lamp post that plays a vital role in the oral histories of the region, and various story boards. As a part of the exhibit redesign, BMCF is partner As a part of the exhibit redesign, BMCF is partnering with Hanbury to bring the neighborhood of New Town back to life! This display of the neighborhood will serve as a central point in our exhibit that tells the Black stories of Blacksburg. The display will also help orient our guests to see what the community used to look like. The Community Foundation of the New River Valley # The Community Foundation of the New River Valley #GiveLocalNRV2026 campaign is underway, and we are soliciting donations to acquire museum grade display cases, seating, and other exhibit material for our redesign of the St. Luke & Odd Fellows Hall. Thank you to Mary for being the first to play our Thank you to Mary for being the first to play our #communitypiano at SLOFH! Part of our exhibit plan at the St. Luke & Odd Fellows Hall includes bringing the Downtown Piano project to the north side of town! This hall served the Black communities of Blacksburg not only as a joint mutual aid society, but also as a central gathering place. Bringing the piano project to the hall will continue this legacy for the town. Consider donating at the link in our bio to aid BMCF in our efforts! @cfnrv

From planning and preparation to installation, countless hours go into creating experiences that educate, inspire, and connect our community. What visitors see when they walk through our doors is only part of the story.

This statue is one of the 16 Frogs of Blacksburg a This statue is one of the 16 Frogs of Blacksburg and his name is Gilbert Vaughn. Each of the frogs that are located throughout the town pay homage to significant figures in Blacksburg’s History, and Gilbert here is one of the pillars of the New Town community. Named after the first Black landowner of the neighborhood, the frog honors his legacy. Donate at the link in our bio to contribute to more monuments honoring the Black stories of New Town!
It was a beautiful afternoon of music, fellowship, It was a beautiful afternoon of music, fellowship, and community spirit at yesterday’s Gospel Sing at the St. Luke & Odd Fellows Hall.

We are grateful to every performer, volunteer, and supporter who helped make the event a success. Events like Gospel Sing not only preserve cherished traditions but also help keep our community spaces vibrant and active for future generations.

As we continue our fundraising efforts for the museum, we invite those who value programs like this to consider supporting our mission. Every contribution helps us preserve local history, provide meaningful community events, and ensure that this special gathering place remains a home for connection.
