We are happy to announce April DeMotts as the newe We are happy to announce April DeMotts as the newest member to our Board of Directors. April is already, but not surprisingly, a strong addition to our efforts, and we are honored that she has chosen to serve The Blacksburg Museum & Cultural Foundation.

April DeMotts is the District G representative and Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors, having first been elected in 2015. In addition to her elected role, April works full-time as the Senior Property Manager and Blacksburg Market Lead for Dogwood Residential.

April serves on the Board of Directors for the Virginia Association of Counties and is the Vice Chair of VACo’s Energy, Environment, and Land Use Committee. She is also the Treasurer of Onward NRV, a regional economic development organization, and a Board member of Live, Work, Eat, Grow, a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening local food systems, supporting small businesses, and advancing affordable housing.

As a strong advocate for outdoor recreation, April serves on the Montgomery County Parks and Recreation Commission and is known for her enthusiasm for new park development and trail building across the region.

A proud Virginia Tech alumna, April has spent her career in the Blacksburg and Radford communities, with experience spanning student housing, affordable housing, and construction and historic rehabilitation. She lives in Blacksburg with her son, a current Virginia Tech senior, and enjoys hiking, gardening, biking, and spending time with her friends and family.
