For our last installment of our Black History Mont For our last installment of our Black History Month Series we would like to highlight some of the hidden female figures who were often responsible for raising some of the most influential figures in the town of Blacksburg. SLOFH is the last remaining building in New Town and the exhibit will cover the trials and triumphs of the black community in Blacksburg, VA.

These homes were among the many structures in New These homes were among the many structures in New Town that formed the foundation of the community. For generations, many Black residents of Blacksburg lived in these houses, building their lives and families while enduring the challenges of systemic racism and enforced segregation. Within these walls, these influential Black community members cultivated strength and support laying the groundwork for an enduring community despite hardship.
