Blacksburg en Blanc

August 22 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Blacksburg en Blanc Returns on August 22!

Join us for our annual picnic fundraiser inspired by the concept Diner en Blanc, a popular outdoor dining experience across the world. The Blacksburg Museum & Cultural Foundation has continued this tradition in our community along with an auction-based fundraiser that helps our mission to preserve, interpret, and promote Blacksburg’s history, art, and culture.

The auction portion of this event will include an assortment of artworks from local artists who exhibited at the museum throughout 2026, as well as package deals from local businesses, restaurants, and hotels. Proceeds provide funds for the following:

EXHIBIT REDESIGN AT ST. LUKE & ODD FELLOWS HALL

COLLECTION AND EXHIBIT MATERIALS AT BOTH SITES
Archival grade storage containers, museum-grade glass and framing, display pedestals, acrylic casings, etc.

We provide:
*a professional tent on our lawn with cafe lighting
*tables, tablecloths, and chairs
*a few table decorations (we also encourage your creativity in bringing your own!)
*music entertainment from the Nickel’n Dimers
*champagne and white wine at your table
*a silent auction
*trash cans and indoor restrooms

You provide for yourself or your group:
*food
*alcoholic and/or non-alcoholic drinks
*cutlery and napkins

Lastly, please wear white as diners do across the world! It adds to the summer ambience!

THE HISTORY of Dîner en Blanc:

The concept began in Paris in 1988 when François Pasquier invited a group of friends to an elegant outdoor dinner at the Bois de Boulogne, asking them to dress in white so they could find each other. It is now a worldwide annual event spanning six continents. Diners are required to provide their own food, tables, chairs and tablecloths. Only a select number of participants who have previously signed up are made privy to the location the day of the dinner, and generally converge in an iconic urban location.

10% off for museum members at the Supporter, Curator, Historian, Patron, and Benefactor Levels with code benb2026. Want to become a member? Click HERE!
