The Art of Goodbye Exhibit Opening

October 1 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Explore the ways in which mourning and death rituals have evolved through the Colonial, Victorian and Modern eras. We will be exhibiting a range of artifacts from local gravestone rubbings, hair jewelry and mourning attire to items from the McCoy Funeral Home private collection.

If you are a museum member, you may join us at 4:30 for a cocktail hour featuring spooky seasonal drinks hosted by JH Bards. If you would like to become a member any time before this special event, please visit our Membership Page.

This year, we have some special guests appearing on the opening night! The incredible Invincible Czars will visit the museum on their way to The Lyric for their presentation of Faust at 7:30, and anyone at the reception will receive a voucher for free popcorn. Tickets to their show may be purchased at The Lyric Theatre’s Calendar.

As part of this exhibit, we also welcome you to partake in events throughout spooky season including:
* haunted history tours
* art talks
* tarot card readings
* epitaph writing
* Appalachian death ballads & spooky storytelling
Details and pricing for all events will be coming soon!

THANK YOU TO OUR PARTNERS:
Westview Cemetery, JH Bards, McCoy Funeral Home, Taubman Museum of Art, and more to come!
