The Bicycle Culture of Blacksburg

May 16 @ 8:00 am - August 31 @ 5:00 pm

Rambler Bicycle Club of Roanoke. Historical Photograph Collection, Special Collections, University Libraries, VPI & SU.

Since the 1970s, bicycling has gained in popularity for a number of reasons: for leisure and exercise, as a means of commuting, and as a way to live a more sustainable lifestyle. In Blacksburg, community organizations, local stores, and a network of public trails have created a bicycle culture that continues to evolve. This exhibit will explore the origins of the bicycle and its influence in our region and in the town of Blacksburg.
