Blacksburg’s Hiking Culture

May 8 @ 10:00 am - August 22 @ 4:00 pm

Hiking means different things to different people. Hikers often like to submerge themselves in nature – for anywhere from a few hours during a short walk, to thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail for several months. With easy access to the Jefferson National Forest and the Appalachian Trail, as well as plenty of green space in town, Blacksburg’s hiking culture spans across a broad spectrum and is embraced by many of its citizens. This exhibit explores what hiking does for our community, what hiking opportunities are available in and near Blacksburg, and what goes into making these trails safe and available for people.

In addition to our hiking culture exhibit, there is also a collection of hiking-related photos on display called The Green Tunnel: Works by Matt Gentry.
