George V. Wills is a life-long resident of Blacksburg, whose work captures both urban and natural scenes in our region – but often with a creative and fun twist. This exhibition features nine pieces highlighting his broad range of styles, including native birds depicted in oil on canvas, a contemporary drawing of the Lyric Theatre, and even a carrot riding a bike!
“As an artist I enjoy combining fine art technique with clever themes, such as the acorn-capped birds in this exhibition. This combination often catches a viewer off guard, presenting him or her with a surprise – always a good thing in my opinion. I never want to bore a viewer. My work may not be compelling to those looking for art as shocking, political, or contemplative, but it is serious art, as in well-executed technically, interesting to view, and it often leaves people smiling.”
